The Heart
Behind
Elysium
Sonja | BSN, RN
Healthcare should not be one-size-fits-all. That individuality is not a complication — it is the beauty of human design. You were not designed to merely manage symptoms. You were designed to thrive, not just survive.
Elysium — a place of perfect bliss and idyllic balance. The name reflects both my middle name, Alysia, and the vision I hold for every client: to feel clear, vibrant, and deeply at home in their body.
Clinical Perspective
I am a BSN-prepared Registered Nurse practicing in acute care, where I care for patients facing advanced stages of chronic disease — metabolic dysfunction, cardiovascular complications, systemic inflammation, and uncontrolled blood sugar. This work is meaningful and necessary, yet it has also clarified something profound: Much of what I see daily could have been prevented, mitigated, or dramatically improved through earlier education and individualized lifestyle support with an emphasis on healing & coaching.
The body is not fragmented. It is not defective by design. It is adaptive, intelligent, and deeply interconnected.
A Personal Journey
At 15, I began experiencing persistent fatigue, migraines, debilitating menstrual pain, and subclinical hypothyroidism. My labs were considered “borderline,” and the primary solution offered was hormonal birth control to suppress symptoms. My physician was well-meaning and practicing within standard guidelines — yet I intuitively sensed that my hormones were not the problem. They were communicating.
Rather than override those signals, I immersed myself in understanding physiology. I studied metabolism, endocrine signaling, circadian rhythm, nervous system regulation, and nutrition beyond what was required of me academically. Small, consistent changes in how I nourished, rested, and regulated my body gradually resolved my symptoms. That experience reshaped my understanding of health for the better.
My passion for this work is also rooted in lived adversity. Growing up in a traumatic environment required me to develop resilience, introspection, and emotional awareness at a young age. Nature became my refuge and grounding force. That season of life shaped the empathy and perspective I bring into every client relationship today, understanding that there is always more than meets the eye.
Healing is never purely physical. The nervous system holds history. Stress reshapes physiology. Mental patterns influence overall health. True care must consider the full picture.
My insight is 'beyond my years' — built through years of early healthcare experience as a CNA and medical assistant beginning at 16, completion of advanced nursing education through my BSN and RN licensure, continued post-graduate training through the Functional Nurse Academy, and extensive independent study driven by genuine fascination with human biology. Wisdom does not only come from time. It comes from immersion, observation, adversity, and disciplined study.
Bridging the Gap
What I have observed- both clinically and in my community- is not a lack of effort, but a lack of education. We cannot expect individuals to steward their health well if they have never been shown how their bodies actually work. Education should not be optional in healthcare- it is foundational. To leave such a critical component absent from our system does not align with what I believe to be the very purpose of healthcare: to preserve, protect, and empower life.
I chose not to wait for systemic change and instead built what I knew was missing.
Every single person, regardless of age or diagnosis, benefits from a stronger connection to and understanding of their own physiology. When people understand their bodies, fear decreases. Decisions become intentional rather than reactive. People become empowered to learn and critically think about what works best for their health.
Elysium Wellness was created to bridge the gap between understanding and application — combining individualized education with functional lab interpretation to create a cohesive, whole-person approach to health.
True healing & wellness is never isolated to one system. It is always interconnected. That being said, please do understand that we will be diving deeper than just straightforward goals, meal plans, and lab results. I will be inquisitive about your story, your childhood, and your daily life. I will be challenging limiting beliefs and mindsets as they come up, because you guessed it, they directly impact your health outcomes. We will be honoring the beautiful complexity of the human design.
Modern medicine excels in acute intervention and life-saving care. But it is not structured to deeply educate patients on metabolic flexibility, hormonal literacy, nervous system regulation, or sustainable habit formation, for example. Time constraints and current systemic design simply do not allow it.
My role is not to replace medical providers. I do not diagnose or promise cures. I operate within my scope as a nurse and educator — guiding clients to better understand their bodies, interpret patterns, ask informed questions, and build sustainable foundations for vitality. I will gladly advocate for you and work with your primary care provider, and as always, I will never push you to buy tests and supplements that I do not deem necessary. I am here to work with you, not profit off you. This is my passion, and my dream, to see my community learn how to live in synchrony with their body, the way nature designed it.
Choosing this journey is an act of self-respect — a declaration that your existence is worthy of time, intention, and investment. I am more than grateful to you choosing me to guide and coach you through this wonderful chapter of life.
